sumzzang Tutor Profile

Hi everyone. Nice to meet you.
I am Sumi, a Korean language tutor on Cafetalk.

I am a Korean living in “Tokotan” town in Aichi Prefecture.
“Tokotan” town is right next to Chubu Central Airport in Aichi Prefecture, and is well known for its ceramics.
The town’s streets are popular and always crowded with tourists.
“Tokotan” is the name of the town’s mascot, a character cat.
It’s so cute, isn’t it?
I love this kind of cute Japanese aesthetics.

I grew up in Busan, South Korea.
It is the second largest city in South Korea, after Seoul.
↓↓↓
Busan is a region similar to Japan’s Osaka with a unique regional language (dialect).
밥뭇나 Bapmunna? (← Have you eaten?)
어디고 Eodigo? (← Where are you?)
머라하노 Meorahano? (← What are you doing?)
마 Ma! (← when you call someone or something, it has a complicated meaning.)
And so on...lol
It’s an unlike the typical Korean you hear, isn’t it?
For people from Busan, these phrases sound very nostalgic. lol
After graduating from a foreign language university with a degree in Business Japanese,
I spent my professional life at a company related to my major
before coming to Japan right around the time when the pandemic started.
I never expected the pandemic to last this long, but it completely changed my life. ^^
I started baking bread as a hobby after spending more time at home during the pandemic. My partner even gifted me a home bakery lol. My desire to learn more about bread making led me to go onto vocational school.

In March 2023, I successfully graduated from a confectionery school. lol
(I was surprised to find that the school was like a regular college, with a laid-back atmosphere. In fact, I was surprised to meet so many wonderful people who wanted to become bakery staff.)

Although I experienced many hardships, it was truly a precious moment for me.
The photos above are from my confectionery school years, my own work, the award ceremony, and the graduation ceremony.
I actually made the heart-shaped piece with bread dough.^^ It is a type of decorative bread.
The base is also made of bread.^^ If you also like bread, come and join me!

In 2024, I was certified as Grade 2 Korean Language Teacher.
I now teach Korean to students everyday, both online and offline.
I started my career as a Korean language tutor in order to use my language skills for the benefit of many people.
I believe that the most important thing about learning a language is to communicate with other people.
Why don’t you challenge yourself to learn to speak Korean?:)
