「たくさん書く」より「よく見る」

書字能力は才能ではなく、手本を「見る力」から育ちます。
字を整えるために大切なのは、

ただひたすらに何枚も書くことではありません。

線の長さ、余白、文字の並び—
手本のどこに注目すると美しく整って見えるのか。

手本と自分の字の違いに気づけるようになると、
文字は整い始めます。

書道指導で私が大切にしているのは、
この「見る力」を育てることです。

"Write more" is not the answer. "See more clearly" is.

The ability to write beautifully is not a talent you're born with —
it grows from learning how to truly look at a model.

It's not about filling page after page.

Line length, spacing, the flow of characters on the page —
where you focus your eyes makes all the difference.

Once you learn to notice the gap between the model and your own writing,
your characters begin to fall into place.

This is what I care about most in my teaching:
developing the eye to see.

字を整える練習は、
集中力ややり抜く力を育てる練習でもあります。

Growing the Ability to Self-Correct

We all have blind spots in our own handwriting —
things we simply can't see without a fresh pair of eyes.

In my lessons, we look together:
what would make this feel more balanced?

Little by little, you start to notice things yourself.
And once you can see it, you can fix it.

 

That's the real goal.
And somewhere along the way,
your focus and persistence quietly level up too.

毛筆は、
筆圧・墨量など習得ポイントが多いため、
まずは硬筆で
文字の形や余白を観察する力を育てることを
おすすめしています。

この基礎があるお子さまは、
毛筆に入ってからの伸び方が大きく変わります。
毛筆の授業が始まる小学3年生まで、
1・2年生のうちから育てておきたい力です。

 

Brush calligraphy involves a lot of variables —
pressure, ink load, and more.

That's why I recommend starting with pencil:
building the eye for form and spacing first.

Children who develop this foundation
early take off remarkably fast once they pick up a brush.

 

In Japan, brush calligraphy begins in Year 3.
The best time to build that foundation?
Years 1 and 2.

書道という「微細な変化を見極める世界」で磨いてきたのは

「どこをどう直せばいいのか」を誰にでもわかる言葉で伝えること—
この力を、書道・国語・英語の指導にも活かしながら、

Running my own calligraphy school for 17 years.
Regional judge for open calligraphy exhibitions.

Previously taught English at a high school,
and Japanese & English at a private tutoring school.
Now teaching online and in-person —
students of all ages, from Japan and beyond.

Calligraphy is a world of subtle differences —
and I've spent years doing something genuinely difficult:
translating what the eye feels into words anyone can understand.

That clarity is what I bring to every subject I teach.

【レッスン内容】

書道・書写（毛筆・硬筆・ペン習字）

ひらがな練習・漢字練習・文字の並びを整えるレッスン。
学校課題・書き初め展・硬筆展・コンクール対策にも対応し
入賞のご報告も多数いただいています。

国語・英語・絵てがみ

書道・書写と並行して、
国語（漢字・音読・読解）
英語（英検・英文法）も
同じ講師におまかせいただけます。
教科をまたいで継続して見ることで
お子さまの理解の傾向やペースに合わせた指導ができます。
教育心理学・各教科の指導法を体系的に学んだ講師が
一人ひとりに合わせて丁寧に進めていきます。
また絵てがみでは、レタリングなどの書体表現や
色使いを楽しむ時間も大切にしています。

Lessons

Calligraphy & Penmanship
Hiragana, kanji, and composition —
from the very basics to polished, balanced writing.
I also prepare students for school assignments,
calligraphy exhibitions, and competitions.
Many of my students have gone on to win awards.

Japanese, English & Etegami
Prefer to keep everything with one teacher?
Calligraphy,
Japanese language arts (kanji, reading aloud, comprehension)
and English (grammar, EIKEN prep)can all be combined
in one ongoing relationship.
Knowing a child across subjects means
I can spot patterns in how they think and learn —
and teach accordingly.
Etegami is a space to enjoy lettering, typography,
and the pleasure of colour.


Adult Learners
Calligraphy, penmanship, kanji, reading aloud,
English grammar, etegami.
