JennyHong Perfil del(de la) tutor/a

Hello! My name is Jenny, and I am from Seoul, South Korea!
I am delighted to meet you!!!
My English name “Jenny” was given to me by my very first native English teacher.
I sometimes use my English name when I live abroad or in English classes because my Korean name has a “batchim” (a syllable block at the end) that can be difficult for non-Korean speakers to pronounce.

When I was a university student, I was intrigued by Japanese culture.
I became a fan of Takuya Kimura after watching a Japanese drama by coincidence, and decided to major in Japanese literature.
“I want to understand Japanese programs without Japanese subtitles!” This goal became a major driving force in my Japanese studies.

After graduating from university, I decided to try my hand at becoming a barista and making my own coffee, which I have always loved. I ended up working as a barista in a Korean café for over 10 years.
During the last 3 years, I have been running my own small café.
If you also enjoy coffee or want to work as a barista in South Korea, my experience may be useful.
While working as a manager at a guesthouse in Hongdae, Seoul, and in the reservation department of a five-star hotel in Seoul, I enjoyed introducing South Korea to tourists from different countries and helping them have an enjoyable trip.
This led me to pursue my dream of helping people learn the Korean language.
I am currently a student majoring in Korean language education at a cyber university, studying to teach Korean in a systematic way.
I also enjoy traveling and am an avid learner of English.
I did language training in Brisbane, Australia for 6 months. During that time, I lived with friends from Japan in a shared house and had fun cooking Japanese and Korean food together while throwing birthday parties for each other.

Thanks to this experience, I am still in touch with my Japanese friends and have been introduced to friends around them who are interested in Korea, allowing me to continue practice teaching conversational Korean to them.
Since I have also been studying Japanese for a long time and am familiar with Japanese culture, I would like to put myself in the shoes of Japanese students studying Korean to offer easy-going lessons as if we were friends learning together.
