Hi Prospective student,
My Name is Marius. I am from Pretoria, South Africa and I am very happy to meet you. I have an extreme passion for teaching, that translates to a willingness and can do attitude when it comes down to teaching the English language. English is loads of fun, and I hope to make your experience in my class fun and memorable by making use of exciting study materials and innovative ways to keep you engaged. I have lectured, tutored and facilitated students for 3 years at the University of Potchefstroom, and I am excited to bring some of the strategies and tricks I learned to the classroom. I also have a corporate background, that makes me quite proficient in conversational and business English, should this be something that you are in need of learning.
My Teaching Styles: - I Make use of The PPP Method. This method is Presentation, Practice, and Production. - I make use of Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) This method focuses on developing fluency in a foreign language by using real-world, communicative activities. - I make use of Task-based language teaching, also known as task-based instruction, focusing on the use of authentic language to complete meaningful tasks in the target language. Such tasks can include visiting a doctor, conducting an interview, or calling customer service for help. - I make use of Active learning as a teaching method. This is when students solve, are given questions and problems to solve, as well as encouraged to come up with questions of their own.
