Tutor Stephanie has been teaching English for 9 years and vocal singing for over 20 years. About 7 years ago, when she became a part-time housewife, she began exploring the art of cooking—learning and perfecting her family’s recipes and sharing them with family, friends, and her students in Japan.

  – We’ll review the list of ingredients and utensils, discuss the cultural background of the dishes - adaptions I've made will be discussed throughout the session.
• Apple Crisp demo + cultural notes (20-25 mins)
  – I will demonstrate and guide everyone through the preparation process step by step to the finished product - while giving some cultural background through out
• Peanut Butter Balls demo + cultural notes (20-25 mins)
  – I will demonstrate and guide everyone through the preparation process step by step. To the finished product with some cultural background throughout
• Wrap-up & Q&A (5-10 mins)
  – discuss baking variations - take questions at the end but of course questions are welcome throughout

INGREDIENTS — Apple Crisp

6 medium apples (Fuji, Tsugaru, Akane, or Jonagold)

1 cup rolled oats

½ cup brown sugar

½ cup all-purpose flour

½ teaspoon cinnamon

½ cup butter (cold, cut into cubes)

INGREDIENTS — Peanut Butter Balls (Chestnuts)

2 cups confectioners’ (powdered) sugar, sifted

¾ cup creamy peanut butter

¼ cup unsalted butter, softened

½ teaspoon vanilla extract

3 ounces (85 g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 tablespoon shortening
