My Honeymoon to Okinawa

2020年3月10日

Hello everyone !

I just wanted to share some highlight of my honeymoon to Okinawa last month. Which we waited 10 months after getting married to enjoy! ( due to our opposite schedules with our jobs etc.)

Cornavirus issue broke in the news about 1 week before we were to leave on our honeymoon in early Feb (last month) so we decided to go anyways because at this point if we had cancelled we would have lost all our money!

So we went and we had an amazing time. We stayed at the Rizzan Sea Park Hotel. This is a nice hotel and lots of ametities  and resturants . Honestly, you don`t really need to leave the hotel.

Our frist day was spent just exploring the hotel and what it offered and enjoyed the nice weather (17-22 degrees ) and nice walks on the beach. I really enjoyed the Okinawa drumming performance  at the hotel in the evening. You can watch some video clips  of the drumming on my instagram account.

Day 2: since our package included a rental car we drove to the most northern part of the island  and explored nice view points and hiking trails that show you many interesting rock formations, and types of rock and trees not really found in mainland Japan . ( See main photo of this entry to see photo of the trees on the hike we took.) We then drove back down the coastline and stopped into a castle ruins area to go to a cherry blossom festival. Then near closing time we went to the aquarium and watched the whale sharks. More photos from this day and other days on my instagram.

Day 3:  was a bit more leisurely. Got up and went for a morning stroll near the resort. Then on to explore Kouri Island and explore many beaches and interesting rock shapes at Heart Beach and Tokei Beach and then off to have lunch and try the local special of sea urchin which was yummy! Also, taco rice is also very popular here. The lady took a picture of us outside her restaurant. She was very eccentric and kept telling me how beautiful I was lol...I felt so so embarrassed by her constant compliments.

Day 4: was the last day in Okinawa I ate traditional Okinawa food for breakfast and as we drove back to Naha we stopped and checked out the cave okinawa which was interesting and has history connected to WW2. Then we stopped off at the botanical gardens which was nice. Then off to Naha to return our rental car and to eat ishigaki beef at a Yakiniku restaurant . Now our trip was over and waiting to make the next memories !!!

Hope you enjoyed my story of my honeymoon. Have you ever been to Okinawa? What did you do when you visited there? I hope to go back to these islands again someday. Any suggestions of what I should do next time?

Hope to see you or meet you soon! To talk about travel and many other topics.

Cheers for now!
