Fortune telling

2020年10月9日

占いによって、自分の将来を決めるのはあまり良くないと思う。

This is my mantra starting today.

When things don't go well in my life, I want to know when they are going to get better.  When things are going well in my life, I want to know how long they are going to last. So yeah, I am a big fan of fortune-telling, okay, was...

Fortune telling comes in all forms, such as online tarot card reading, online horoscope, and going to the temple to do a real fortune telling.

I come to realize that one cannot rely on fortune telling.  A lot of times, the answers to the questions are so vague you can interpret them one way or another.  Buddhist fortune telling gives you 3 answers - good, average and bad.  If it is accurate, it can be a fluke, or probability.  There is a 33.33% chance, right?

The logical part of my brain tells me that fortune telling is all about probability. However, the illogical part of my brain hopes it is a real deal, especially when I get a good outcome.

The reason I am sharing this with you today is that I did an online fortune telling just now on a Japanese fashion website.  My reading is

1.  I will get an hourly raise.  Hmm, nice, but by whom?  My only job is offering lessons on Cafetalk.  Don't worry, I am not going to raise my fees just because the reading says so.

2.  Send a cute picture to "him".  Okay, who is 'him' exactly?

So there you go. Horoscopes are not so accurate.

Bye bye horoscope.
