It is is beautiful time to be in Gifu, Japan. Here are some fun things, I'll be trying to do!
- See the Koinobori at Nagaragawa: Head to the banks of the Nagara River to see the massive display of colorful carp streamers (koinobori) fluttering in the spring breeze.
- Visit Gujo Hachiman: Stroll through this historic "water city." The pristine, spring-fed canals and traditional wooden houses make for a highly scenic, peaceful day out.
- Go Café Hopping: Explore Gifu's thriving coffee shop culture by enjoying a traditional Nagoya-style "morning set" (coffee served with free toast, eggs, and sides) at a local kissaten like Kura Coffee.
- Relax at a Local Onsen: Unwind in a hot spring to wash away the spring fatigue. You can easily plan a weekend or day trip to nearby Gero Onsen, one of Japan's most famous hot spring resort towns.
Cheers.
Tim.
