A Movie I Would Recommend For A Cosy Evening

The Red Shoes is a 1948 British dance drama. The plot is based on 1845 fairytale by Hans Christian Andersen, and features a ballet within it by the same title.

Although it is an old film, it is easy to find copies of it to purchase or rent. A young ballerina falls in love with a brilliant composer, but the jealous head of the ballet company plots to drive them apart.

Make yourself a cup of tea, coffee, or hot chocolate and snuggle up to watch this emotional drama with everlasting themes. I challenge you not to cry at the end! I think this is the first 'weepy'* I watched.

The film is beautifully shot**, and a famous orchestra was employed to produce the moving soundtrack. A runaway box- office success*** at the time of its release, the movie's popularity has endured throughout the subsequent decades. 

* weepy is the kind of film that makes you cry.
** shot means filmed, 'beautifully'shot means the camera angles etc were good.
***box-office success means many tickets were sold, a lot of money was made.
