Hello lovely people of CafeTalk! ??
I am Miss Linda, a new English tutor, and I am excited to be posting my first column article! This week's prompt is A movie I’d recommend for a cozy evening. Well, do I have a suggestion for you.
As an anime and manga lover, I am always looking for new and exciting things to binge. I usually watch horror, action or adventure animes, but I do have a special place in my heart for Studio Ghibli. Every movie I've watched has that charming energy to it—even the depressing ones.
I had thought I had watched every Ghibli in existence and then one day, I stumbled upon a masterpiece of comfort: The Red Turtle.
The movie follows a man who gets stranded on a deserted island. He searches every which way, but unfortunately, he is all alone on the tiny island. Until one day, everything changes. The best part of the film, in my opinion, is that there are probably only 5 sentences spoken throughout the entire thing!
It focused on the sounds of the ocean and wild to bring the stto life. It is so soothing and comforting, I could watch it a thousand times over. Truly one of my favourite movies and the only silent/mostly silent film I have ever watched.
If you enjoy cozy films you can watch while snuggled in your blankets, hot chocolate in hand, this is the film for you! If you enjoyed my article, feel free to book a lesson with me where we can talk about our favourite movies in more detail.
