Getting Started on Cafetalk

All Cafetalk lessons are conducted online. You can join using a computer, smartphone, or tablet connected to the internet.

To start using Cafetalk you’ll need to register an account. It’s free!
No need to worry about setup fees or monthly membership fees. You only pay for the lessons you take.

You can purchase points beforehand and use those points to pay for lessons as they are requested.
Points start at 1,500 (equivalent to 1,650 Japanese Yen or about 18 US Dollars). There’s no need to buy more than you expect to use.
We accept payment by major credit cards, Paypal and bank transfer (Japanese and Korean banks only).

When you’re ready you can start by searching for tutors and lessons that might interest you.
You can use filters like language or subject taught, country of origin and native language.

Once you find a lesson you'd like to take, send a "Lesson Request." You can choose any time slot the tutor has made available. Times are displayed in your local time zone, so you don't need to worry about calculating time differences.

Your request will either be confirmed manually by the tutor, or, if the lesson is marked "Instant Booking", your booking will be confirmed immediately upon sending the request. On the day of the lesson, simply start your lesson using the call app specified in your booking.

You can submit reviews and ratings for your lesson and your tutor for up to 7 days after completion. You may also receive feedback or review materials from your tutor.
