• Llamarse means “to be called.”
It’s reflexive, so it changes slightly:

Mini Lecture:
• Spanish spelling is phonetic: words are generally pronounced as they are written.
• The alphabet has 27 letters, and each has one clear sound.
• Main points:
• Vowels are pure and always sound the same:
• A = /a/ as in father
• E = /e/ as in bed
• I = /i/ as in machine
• O = /o/ as in pot
• U = /u/ as in rule
• H is always silent → Hola /ˈola/
• J sounds like a rough hJosé /xoˈse/
• LL and Y often sound like /ʝ/ or /j/ → llamo, yo
• C before e/i sounds like s (Latin America) or θ (Spain).
Activity – Listen & Repeat (5 min):
Practice: Hola, José. Me llamo Julia. ¿Cómo estás?
Focus on vowel clarity and rhythm.
6. Wrap-Up and Review (5 minutes)
