- The validity period for this lesson pack is 60 days starting from the scheduled date and time of the first confirmed lesson.

Even if the first scheduled lesson is canceled, the already set validity period will not change.

Description

Advanced English & Critical Thinking for AP International School Students

This course is designed for students who already have a strong foundation in English and are studying in an AP or international-school environment. The focus is on developing not only advanced English skills, but also the ability to analyse ideas, think independently, and communicate opinions with clarity and confidence.

Lessons will be built around engaging topics and carefully selected materials that encourage students to look at issues from different perspectives and develop their own ideas.

My Approach

Each lesson will combine reading, discussion, analysis, and writing. Students will first explore a topic and examine different viewpoints before developing their own position. Through guided discussion and questioning, they will learn to explain why they think something, consider alternative perspectives, and support their ideas with relevant reasoning and evidence.

Writing tasks will then give students an opportunity to put these skills into practice. Detailed feedback will help them identify areas for improvement, strengthen their arguments, and gradually develop a more mature and effective academic writing style.

Rather than focusing solely on producing a finished essay, the course emphasises the thinking process behind good writing. The aim is to help students become more thoughtful readers, stronger thinkers, and more confident communicators in English.

Topics and activities will be adapted to the student's age, English level, interests, and academic needs, making the lessons both challenging and engaging.

This course is particularly suitable for students who want to strengthen their academic English and critical-thinking abilities while preparing for the demands of an AP or international-school education.

This tutor's cancellation policy

Cancellation of pack lessons

• 'Unstarted' lesson packs(1) can be cancelled any time. Used Points will be completely refunded. If a 'started' lesson pack(2) is cancelled, you will be refunded 50% of the price of the remaining lessons provided that the lessons are unrequested, unconfirmed or not within 24 hours of their scheduled start times.
(1) A lesson pack for which none of the requests have been confirmed by the tutor.
(2) A lesson pack with at least one confirmed request. (By confirming the date and time for the first lesson in the pack the tutor confirms the pack as a whole and coupons are automatically issued)

Cancelling individual requests in a pack

• If you wish to cancel a single lesson that belongs to a pack but not the whole pack, you can do so via the request page. In this case, the coupon used to book the lesson will either be refunded or collected, based on the tutors single-lesson cancellation policy. Please note that any 50% partial refunds in the tutors single-lesson cancellation policy do not apply to lesson packs and the tutor may choose to either refund or collect the coupon in those cases.

This lesson is “Immediately Confirmed”

If the requested date falls within 30 days, the request will be “confirmed” immediately without having to wait for the tutor to reply.

Requests will be confirmed immdiately expect the first one of a pack. If confirmed immediately, the policy “before request is confirmed” will not apply.

About “Immediate Confirmation”

Before request is confirmed (fixed)

  • Cancellation possible at any time without charge.

After request is confirmed (fixed)

  • Less than 2hours before lesson start time.→ 50% of price charged.
  • No-Show→ 100% of price charged.
