Description:
This lesson focuses on improving children’s reading skills through engaging activities that enhance vocabulary, decoding, fluency, and comprehension. Students will interact with texts, pictures, and labels to strengthen recognition of words and practice reading aloud confidently.

Picture Books – “Match & Talk”

Activity: Show a picture book. Ask students to match images to words or discuss what they see happening in the story.

Challenge: Children may rely only on pictures and not try reading.

Solution: Encourage sounding out simple words, point to text as you read, and ask “Can you try saying this word?”

Sight Words Practice – “Find & Read”

Activity: Practice common sight words using flashcards, games, or classroom posters.

Challenge: Students may forget words or confuse similar-looking words.

Solution: Repeat words frequently, use multi-sensory activities (write in sand, trace letters, act out words).
