Let's discuss a country you have been to or want to go to and at the same time improve English speaking skills
課程介紹
The class is aimed at beginner, interemdiate or even advanced students who are interested in travel and want to broaden their knowledge about the world. This is helpful for people who intend to travel abroad for a vacation, study or work. At the same time, the discussion will help improve vocabularly and pronunciation. The class proceeds in 6 steps.
1. The student suggests a country and/or city to discuss in advance of the lesson. I have travelled very widely but will also prepare some facts about the country or city before the lesson
2. The teacher starts with a couple of interesting facts about the country/city to get the discussion going. During the discussion the teacher may introduce additional facts to stimulate new ideas
3. The student is expected to share their existing experiences with the country/city and/or thoughts about why they wish to visit and what they expect to see/do
4. The discussion will continue with an opportunity for the student to ask the teacher's own experiences in the country/city
5. Wrap up - new vocabulary learned, grammar or pronunciation issues identified
6. Homework - look up a Google link supplied by the teacher to learn more about the country/city and practice reading an article in English
The benefits of this class are as follows:
1. It is a structured approach where the student can think about the country/city before the lesson and come prepared with the kinds of things they want to discuss with the teacher
2. The student can learn new vocabulary and have their pronunciation or grammar corrected
3. The student can gain confidence in visting a new country/city or perhaps learn more about somewhere they have already been
4. Students can choose choose to do the lesson again with a different country/city
My teaching style is calm, friendly and non-judgemental but I am prepared to challenge a student to go further, particularly if the topic requires the student to have an opinion
