Level: A1–A2 (Teens, ages 13–17)
Length: 60 minutes
Break: 5 minutes after ~30 minutes
Lesson 1 of a Series

🎯 Lesson Objectives:

By the end of this lesson, students will be able to:
✔ Use “I like / I don’t like,” “I can / I can’t,” and “My favorite…” confidently
✔ Describe their hobbies and interests
✔ Ask and answer simple personal questions
✔ Have a basic introductory conversation

🧩 Lesson Structure (60 mins)

1. 🗣️ Warm-Up: Quick Picks + Emoji Check-In (10 mins)

  • “This or That?” (with pictures)
    Pizza or burgers? Movies or music?

  • Emoji mood check: 😎 🤔 😴 😀
    ➤ “Choose an emoji. How do you feel today?”

Student talk time + light teacher feedback

2. 📚 Vocabulary & Phrases: All About You (10 mins)

  • Hobbies: reading, gaming, drawing, football, dancing, cooking, etc.

  • Key Phrases:

    • “I like / I don’t like…”

    • “I can / I can’t…”

    • “My favorite ___ is ___.”

    • “Do you like ___?” / “Can you ___?”

Practice: Repetition, student examples, and “Finish the Sentence” drill.
➡ “I like ___ because ___.”
➡ “I can ___, but I can’t ___.”

3. 🎤 Speaking Practice: Teen Interview (10 mins)

Activity: Partner or teacher-student roleplay
Each student answers 3–5 personal questions:
➡ “What do you like to do?”
➡ “What are you good at?”
➡ “What’s your favorite movie/song/food?”

Add follow-up questions:
➡ “Why?” or “How often do you ___?”

⏸️ Break Time (5 mins)

Encourage students to stretch, chat briefly in English if possible, grab water.
➡ “You’re doing great! Be back in 5!”

4. 🎧 Listening + Comprehension Practice (10 mins)

Audio/Reading Sample:

“Hi, I’m Sofia. I’m 14 and I’m from Spain. I love music and I can play the piano. I don’t like swimming. My favorite food is pizza. I can speak English and Spanish.”

Tasks:

  • Fill-in-the-blanks worksheet

  • 3–4 comprehension questions

  • True or False statements

➡ Students compare answers in pairs or groups

5. 🎲 Game: Find Someone Who… (10 mins)

Students ask each other questions to complete their sheet:
➡ “Do you like spicy food?”
➡ “Can you ride a bike?”
➡ “Do you have a pet?”
Goal: Find classmates who match each statement!

(If 1-on-1, turn this into “Guess Who” with famous people or characters.)

6. 📝 Wrap-Up + Creative Practice (10 mins)

Review:
➡ “What new sentence did you use today?”
➡ “What do you remember most?”

Mini Writing Task or Oral Share:

  • Write 5–6 sentences about yourself using today’s grammar

  • Share aloud (optional for shy students)

📘 Homework:

➡ Write a short paragraph or record a video:
“I’m ___ years old. I like ___. I can ___. My favorite ___ is ___.”
