Evovling culture: Good or bad?

Description

The Lesson: Evolving Culture. Good or Bad?

This session is a venture into the shifting sands of how we live, work, and interact. It explores the tension between honoring tradition and embracing progress. This topic is suitable for intermediate level onwards, as it can be scaled from basic descriptive language to complex sociological debate.

We explore the Cultural Compass through several lenses:
1. The Digital Shift - How social media and remote work are redefining community and etiquette.
2. Vanishing Traditions - The ethics of "out with the old" is a globalized culture making the world more connected or just more beige?
3. The Language of Change- How new words and social norms reflect shifting values (e.g., inclusivity, sustainability).
4. Generational Friction - Analyzing the "Culture Gap" between Boomers, Millennials, and Gen Z.

Approach is built on Active Immersion. Regardless of your level, you will be pushed to think critically:

Intermediate - We focus on Opinion Frameworks. I provide "sentence starters" to help you move from simple sentences to expressing nuanced likes, dislikes, and comparisons.

Advanced - We focus on Abstract Argumentation. We use rhetorical devices to debate the pros and cons of cultural globalization, focusing on sophisticated vocabulary and high-level debate tactics.

I act as a Moderator and Mirror.
I pose provocative questions to keep the conversation flowing, ensuring you are doing 70% of the talking.
I also reflect your language back to you. If you use a simple word, I suggest a more "colorful" or professional alternative in real-time, helping you build a more sophisticated mental dictionary.

This material is tailored especially for those who want to move beyond "Hello" and talk about real life.
It is for those who want to feel more comfortable in Small Talk and social dinners and those who need the linguistic tools to discuss complex, sensitive, and evolving global topics with confidence.

The goal is to leave the lesson not just with new vocabulary, but with a deeper understanding of the world around you and the confidence to discuss your place within it.

Is culture evolving too fast, or not fast enough? Let’s find the words to answer that together.
