Topic: Email Etiquette – Avoiding Mistakes & Improving Tone
Level: Intermediate (adaptable)
Objective:
- Identify and correct common email mistakes
- Use polite, professional request language
Warm up (5 min)
Discuss and ellicit from students what kind of emails do they write
Have they ever worried that the emails are too direct and not professional
Presentation (7 min)
Task: Write a short email (2-3 sentences), to your manager, requesting a report.
This can be done in the "chat" function.
Error correction - using the student's email
Focus on : 1 Tone
2 Structure - greeting and closing
3 Clarity
Practice (10 min)
Upgrade the email - small changes makes big differences
Introduce polite language - ellicit examples from student
