Diego O. Perfil del(de la) tutor/a

English, 日本語

English made comfortable, practical, and truly yours.

Hi there, I’m Diego!

Welcome to my profile! I’m an English tutor based in New York. My goal is to make every lesson feel like an easygoing, enjoyable conversation with a good friend, rather than a stressful classroom drill.

A Little About Me

I earned my degree in Linguistics, completed my student teaching at New York public schools, and received my official NYS TESOL teaching license. Currently, I am continuing my studies as a graduate student at Columbia University Teachers College to sharpen my teaching skills even further.

What My Lessons Are Like

  • Relaxed & Supportive: No pressure, and mistakes are always welcome! Making mistakes is simply the best way to learn and grow.
  • Clear & Practical: With my linguistics and ESL background, I can explain the "why" behind natural American expressions and pronunciation in a way that is easy to understand.
  • Japanese Support Available: I speak conversational Japanese (JLPT N3). If you ever get stuck or feel nervous, don't worry—I am happy to support and guide you in Japanese whenever needed!

Outside of Teaching

I love following current news around the world, watching movies, exploring anime and manga, and discovering new coffee spots and bars around New York City.

Whether you are a beginner looking for a comfortable place to start, or an intermediate learner wanting to speak more naturally, let’s chat about your favorite topics and reach your English goals together.

I look forward to seeing you in class!
