Hi! My name is Anna, and during my time at university, I fell in love with teaching. I’ve been teaching Math and English as a tutor and assistant teacher for the past 5 years, but my favorite teaching experience was the year I spent teaching English in Japan. I was able to meet so many bright students of all ages and help them gain confidence in their English skills. It was so fun to talk about culture, hobbies, sports, business, and more! 
 
No matter your skill level, I would love to be a part of your learning journey too! 
 
My Teaching Experience 
 
I have 5 years of teaching and tutoring experience, and I'm TEFL certified to teach English. I spent one year teaching English full-time at two schools in Japan, where I taught English classes in both English and Japanese. This means that I can adapt my language use to your needs. During my time at university, I also had the joy of tutoring seven different students in math and chemistry. I also created and delivered lessons on history and culture for junior high and high school students as a volunteer teacher.
 
Teaching Style 
 
Anyone can take my lessons, so please don’t worry about your English skills or your age. I haven’t taught adult students in a classroom setting before, but I have helped many adult Japanese friends with their English. (And they have helped me a lot with my Japanese!)
 
Thanks to my diverse teaching experiences, I know how to make lessons fun for each student. Much of my tutoring experience has been online, so I am very used to making the most of an online tutoring setup. I use a digital whiteboard and tablet so that I can easily write words and math problems for students to see, just like I would in a classroom.
 
By studying English with me, you get two benefits in one: a native English speaker to talk to, and someone who can explain things in Japanese. Instead of worrying that you said the wrong thing in English, you can tell me what you want to say in Japanese, and I’ll teach you the correct, popular English expression for what you want to say. お任せください！
 
Lesson Recommendations
 
I recommend beginning with a "Self Introduction" lesson. In this lesson, you can introduce yourself and tell me about your goals for learning English. Then, I can help you decide what type of lesson would be a good fit for your needs.
 
Maybe you’re confused about an English word or grammar, and you want to ask a native English speaker about it. You can take a 15-minute “Ask Me Anything” lesson, and I’ll answer your questions in Japanese or in English! 
 
Maybe you want to chat with me in English about your hobbies, foreign countries, business, or other topics. You can take a 30-minute "Let's Chat!" lesson. We can have a fun time talking together, and I can help you with any words or pronunciations that are difficult. 
 
Maybe you want to practice useful English phrases and pronunciation. You can take a 50-minute "Targeted English Conversation" lesson. I'll choose useful phrases and make a skit for us to practice together, so that you can learn new English phrases and feel confident!
