Hi. My name is Zoe and I am originally from Portsmouth in the UK. I have a BA Hons degree in English language and literature. I also have an English language teaching qualification - Cert. TEFLA. I have now been living and working as a teacher in Japan for 32 years.
I have a wide range of teaching experience including teaching at a high school, senmon gakkos, conversation schools, private lessons, TOEIC lessons, Business English in companies, telephone lessons, and more!
I hope that I can be flexible with my teaching and adapt any lesson to students individual needs. I believe in giving the student as much opportunity to talk as possible and try to correct or provide advice sensitively.
I am happy to accept any level of student. I believe in using only English during lessons, but I can understand quite a lot of Japanese so can help with translating a word or phrase from Japanese to English if you need it!
I am not using a webcam during lessons so for students who are uncomfortable using a webcam, I hope you can relax in the lesson. Also, although using only audio can be challenging, it will really improve your listening skills and concentration too!
When I am not teaching, I like to be outdoors walking or pottering about in my small garden. When inside, I like to read and watch films from all over the world. I also sometimes like to go to galleries or museums.
I am afraid I have no experience teaching kids, so only students over 18 please!
