Hello! I’m Minami. Thank you for visiting my page! :)

 

About Me

I was born in Japan and have spent most of my life abroad, living in Australia and the UK. I am a native speaker of both British English and Japanese (though my kanji still needs a bit of work!). I currently live in the UK with my Romanian husband.

I am a TEFL/TESOL certified English teacher with 8 years of teaching experience - 4 years at an eikaiwa school in Tokyo and 4 years teaching online on Cafetalk. I also hold a bachelor’s degree in business.

I’m friendly, calm, and patient, and my goal is to help you make the most of each lesson. I understand that every student has different learning goals, so while lessons are structured, I adjust the focus to support your individual needs.

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor of Business
  • TEFL/TESOL Certification
  • 8 years of experience as an English instructor

 

Lessons I Offer

I offer a variety of lessons designed to suit different goals:

  • English Conversation: Casual, stress-free conversation practice. Talk about hobbies, work, current news, or anything you like.
  • News Article: Reading comprehension, vocabulary building, and opinion-based discussion using news articles.
  • General English (Beginner or Intermediate): Vocabulary, grammar, reading, speaking, and pronunciation practice using worksheets. 
  • Business English: Learn and practice vocabulary, expressions, and skills you can use in real workplace situations.
  • Pronunciation: Improve clarity, stress, and rhythm with activities for all levels.
  • Customised Lessons: Tailored lessons for students with specific goals not covered in other lessons, such as schoolwork, presentations, or essays.

Lessons are aimed primarily at adult learners of all levels, but I also offer lessons to younger students depending on their level. Lessons are conducted mainly in English, but I can provide support in Japanese when needed - especially useful for beginners or tricky concepts.

 

New Students

If you’re new, please book a free trial lesson first so I can check your level and discuss the most suitable lesson plan for you.

 

Additional Notes

  • Recording lessons is prohibited.
  • Lessons are generally aimed at adults, though younger learners may be accepted based on level.
