Hello! My name is Hassan, and I’m a licensed Canadian English teacher and native English speaker with over 20 years of teaching experience, including many years of online teaching to Japanese adult learners.

I hold an Honours B.A. from the University of Toronto, a Bachelor of Education, and a TEFL/TESOL certificate, and I am a provincially licensed teacher in Canada.

I enjoy getting to know my students and talking about their lives, interests, work, hobbies, and experiences. My goal is not simply to correct mistakes, but to help you gradually express yourself more naturally and comfortably in English.

I have had a strong interest in Japan and Japanese culture since high school. I particularly appreciate traditional Japanese culture and thought, as well as values such as harmony, consideration for others, and respectful communication. I am also studying Japanese myself, so I understand some of the challenges of learning a foreign language. For beginners, I can provide some support in Japanese when necessary.

I enjoy conversations about many subjects, including Japanese culture, everyday life, travel, education, work, hobbies, philosophy, mindfulness, and interesting ideas. You are also welcome to bring your own articles, books, videos, or other materials to our lessons. I can also provide online news articles at different levels of English difficulty for reading, vocabulary, and discussion practice.

I currently offer lessons for adult learners, including university students, and do not teach children.

Whether you are looking for focused English instruction, speaking practice, exam preparation, or simply a relaxed conversation with an experienced native English teacher, I would be very happy to meet you. I hope we can enjoy learning English together!
