Hello,

My name is Pierre, I am French. (il y a une description en français à la fin)

I love my culture and my country even if I left France more than 15 years ago to discover the world: I lived in Spain for 10 years, in USA for almost 2 years and I am currently living in Vietnam.

I enjoy learning new languages, new aspects of history and civilization, adventure, and walking on the beach with my cat!

As you can see I am curious and I enjoy being abraod. The same way I enjoy transmitting my cultural background to others that are genuinely interested.

The topics I like to teach are about culture, history and economics. But I also have a lot of activities about technology and ecology since those topics are very often used for official exams like DELF.

I started teaching almost by « accident » when I was living in California. I was offered an opportunity to teach and I thought it could be interested to try. From this first experience I discovered 2 things:

1. - I enjoy teaching a lot.
2. - This is a very difficult job that requires specific skills, patience and passion.

So I decided to go back to school and learn everything I needed about didactic and linguistic. The University of Grenoble was a real epiphany and I truly understood what it takes to teach.

That is where I discovered that beyond your knowledge it is important not to be dogmatic. The key is to adapt your lesson plan to your student, and not the opposite. That’s why the first class is so important: what are the goals of your student? Does he or she want to pass an exam? Does he want to go to a French speaking country to visit or to work there? Does he or she want to chat for an hour or so about random topics? Depending of your student goals you have to tailor a class as dynamic and efficient as possible. This is my teaching philosophy.

Bonjour,

Je m’appelle Pierre.

Je suis Français mais j’habite depuis longtemps à l’étranger. J’ai vécu aux Etats-Unis, en Espagne et je vis depuis 2 ans au Vietnam.

Mes sujets préférés sont l’histoire et l’économie mais pour les cours de FLE je donne une grande place à l’écologie et à la technologie, deux thèmes récurrents dans l’actualité et les examens officiels.

Je suis très curieux, j’aime voyager, apprendre… et enseigner!

J’ai commencé à enseigner « par hasard » quand j’habitais aux Etats-Unis. Une opportunité c’est présentée et comme je n’étais pas timide je me suis lancé. De cette première expérience j’ai tiré deux conclusions : j’aime enseigner, partager ma langue et ma culture ; pour ce faire la bonne volonté n’est pas suffisante, il faut avoir des compétences très particulières qui ne sont pas innées. Parler français ne suffit pas pour être professeur de français. Je suis donc retourné à l’école, à l’université de Grenoble, où j’ai passé un diplôme universitaire de Français Langue Etrangère.

Je n’ai pas une méthode définitive : communicationnelle, actionnelle, etc… Je m’adapte aux besoins de l’étudiant. Cette première étape est décisive : définir les objectifs. C’est pourquoi le premier cours est très important. J’aime préparer des cours « sur mesure » à mes étudiants, selon qu’ils doivent passer un examen, partir en voyage culturel ou en voyage d’affaire, ou qu’ils désirent simplement pratiquer le français pour le plaisir.
