Nice to meet you! I'm Aya Ishida, a jazz vocalist.
 
Jazz might seem to be difficult, but if we start by practicing the standards, we will have fun singing!
I can teach you how to sing, how to pick up rhythm, how to listen, jazz theory, how to compose music, how to understand English lyrics,etc.
This way, I will teach you according to your needs and level.

But first, let's have fun singing! I will encourage your desire to get good, and help you as much as possible.

I moved to the U.S. in 2013 with a scholarship from the Kaye Scholars Program and studied jazz vocals, composition, and arranging at City College of New York City with Carolyn Leonhart and Grammy Award-winning saxophonist Steve Wilson.
After graduating in 2017 with a B.F.A. in Jazz Vocal Performance and Magna Cum Laude honors, I released my first album "Day by Day" in July 2018, produced by Grammy-winning saxophonist Wayne Escoffery, and returned to Japan in 2018 to tour in Japan, Taiwan, and Paris. I am currently on an artist visa and performing in New York City.
