Hello! I am Naryyj!
I took Japanese courses in high school, and that was how I started learning Japanese as a second language. I mostly self-learned it while watching anime shows at home,  since this way of learning suited me better than going to a language school.
Taking from my experience, I believe that as long as you can keep yourself interested in the subject, you will be able to keep up studying it.
