Hi, I'm Yulia! I'm an English and Japanese teacher living in Canada. I'm in my 26th year of teaching and 21st living overseas.

I graduated from Washington State University, but obtained my TEFL（an English teaching certification）while I was studying there. After that, I taught English and Japanese at kindergartens and high schools in various countries.

My specialties are speaking, writing and English grammar.
In particular, I'm good at grammar for speaking.
My job was mainly "making people become able to speak."

My main lessons are my "short period concentration series."
In these lessons we focus on only the most important parts of English that you actually use, work on building up your English brain,
and in short stretches improve your speaking and listening.
You'll have the actual feeling of, "I'm improving!?"

English lesson 


Creating your "English Brain"
  • The method is "direct lecture." If you listen in English, your brain will become an "English Brain" and you will improve quickly.
  • If you think in English, the words you speak will naturally become English and your speaking speed will increase.
Listening and speaking strengthening
  • The balance between input and output is vital. Listening a lot, speaking a lot and understanding where you made a mistake are shortcuts to improving.
  • With listening, if you know what to listen for, then it all gets into your head much more smoothly.
Centred around grammar used in daily conversation
  • If you mistake the nuance of what you are saying, the conversation won't advance. If you understand the differences in grammar and meanings often used in conversation, you can speak using natural expressions.

My Lessons
  • In response to your particular needs, I use original materials. (Consultation is available）
  • In order to improve in a short time, I use the direct lecture method. I use the simplest English words to explain, but for more difficult things I can explain in any of 4 languages.
  • Questions are welcome!　If you start to comprehend things you didn't understand, then English becomes "yours" and you gain more confidence with it.
  • I recommend getting used to English in your spare moments of time. 10 to 25 minutes is enough. If you take a break from it, you fall back to where you were before.

Hello. I'm Yulia, who teaches English and Japanese on Cafetalk.

I have completed a 420 Japanese teacher training course.

I have taught Japanese in Canadian high schools, American kindergartens, at companies in New Zealand and to teachers at English conversation schools in Japan.

I have taught speaking, listening, grammar and also the Japanese Language Proficiency Test.

I use a textbook for grammar, but not for conversation.
I correct your grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation while we speak.

Japanese Lessons

I teach in Japanese
  • If you think in Japanese, the words will naturally come out. Your speaking speed will increase.
Listen a lot, speak a lot
  • Listen a lot, speak a lot. And once you remember what your mistakes were, your Japanese will improve.　
  • With listening, if you know what to listen for, then your listening also improves.
Mastering conversation used in daily life.
  • We practice conversation used in real life situations.
  • Practice intonation and pronunciation, and you can speak natural Japanese.

Work Experience
  • 25 years of English and Japanese teaching experience in kindergartens, elementary schools and high schools in Korea, America, Canada and New Zealand.
  • 7 years teaching at an English conversation school in Japan.（in charge of the conversation and TOEIC classes）
  • Experience as a private home tutor and at companies. (Eieken prep, TOEIC prep, JLPT prep, conversation and listening）

Hobbies
  • Cooking and eating food of various countries, going to the gym, creating lessons from different kinds of games, learning languages and speaking with the locals.
I always like to try new new things.
Recently, I'm practicing driving.
Also, I've started learning French little by little.
I also try new things on Cafetalk.
