Hello! I'm Deborah and I'm from the U.K. I'm very polite and friendly and happy to talk to absolutely anyone. I have just graduated from the University of Bristol with a First in History. During my time at uni I spent a semester studying at Kyoto University and I fell totally in love with Japan. Helping my Japanese friends with their English made me really want to continue helping people learn my language.
I love reading and writing, especially fantasy fiction. My list of books to read is very long! I also love listening to and playing music. I've recently taken up aikido and I adore nature.

Teaching Background
I've tutored pupils in English while at school and have recently started tutoring professionally. My main experience has been with my Japanese friends in Kyoto. I've talked with them in person, about everything from complicated grammar questions to Irish music, and I still talk to them online. I even took part in a production of High School Musical that the English Speaking Society put on! All this means I'm good at listening and speaking to people who aren't confident in their English skills, as well as those that are.
Teaching Style
My style of teaching is all about helping you find the best method of learning for you. Because I study Japanese, I understand how hard it can be to learn another language and how everyone learns in different ways. I also want to help you learn English as it's really used, because textbooks don't tell you everything!
I offer lessons for all levels of experience. You can take any of the classes straight away, but I recommend that you start with an introduction lesson, so that we can work out what level you are at and what style of teaching suits you best.
My lessons are fully customisable; I can tailor the style and the content to suit you perfectly. All you have to do is ask.
I also offer classes in History. These would particularly suit an undergraduate who wants help perfecting their skills, but I am happy to teach anyone interested in History.
These lessons are really all about you: your needs, your pace, your interests. I can help you not just understand English, but actually use it as native speakers do, to write fluently as well as to read. That might seem daunting, but if my time in Japan taught me anything, it was that all you need to start is a little bit of courage and you can do things you didn't think you would!
