Hello!
My name is Clare, and I am living in Solomon Islands. I have been teaching English for 2 years, and completed the 120 Hour TEFL certificate. My most recent role was a Virtual Reality English teacher in Beijing, China. I loved the experience as it is a very unique job role and involved two of my interests; teaching English and performing arts. The company I worked for aimed at distrubuting classes to the rural areas of China where education advancement was limited. This was done through online teaching. My role wasn't like a conventional online teacher, the classes were set up in a green screen room, and the job invloved a lot of dancing, miming to songs, teaching language through action and repitition. Here I learnt the value of engaging students, and the responsibility a tutor has to encourage and listen to learners needs, so this is what I have to offer in my lessons.
To fill you in on where I live, here is a little information; In the Solomon Islands English is spoken, it is the official languae. However, pidgin is widely spoken around the nation and perhaps it is more common than English. I like to think of this place as a colourful, natural and simple country.
My teaching style is kind and patient. My aim is to guide you through your learning journey, and create an engaging and safe environment where you can learn new vocabulary, build reading comprehension, practice free conversation and receive some handy tips.
My interests include learning about different cultures and languages, movies, health and travel.
