Hello! My name is Yoko.
 
In addition to piano lessons, I would like to help students expand their musical knowledge by talking about theory, musical grammar, musical instruments, music history, and so on in an online environment like Cafetalk. I look forward to your lesson requests!

【This is what I am good at teaching!】
★ I have experience teaching piano lessons at an international school. I offer lessons to children attending international schools in Japan and abroad, taking into account the language environment of each student so that they can understand without any difficulty.
 
★ I can provide lessons to prepare for the ABRSM exam (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music). I have been able to successfully help my students pass the ABRSM every year. One of my students on Cafetalk even passed the Music Theory Grade 5 with Distinction!
 
★ I have been teaching piano lessons at a Montessori school and have a good understanding of Montessori education.
 
★ I help develop students to “think” and “express” by reading music, instead of just memorizing it.

【Qualifications】
Eiken pre-level 1
TOEIC score of 880
ABRSM exam (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) Piano grade 8 (with distinction)
ABRSM exam Music Theory grade 6 (with distinction)
Licensed to teach at junior high and high school (music)

【Self introduction】
Tokyo Metropolitan Koishikawa High School → Musashino Academia Musicae Graduate School of Music (piano).
While teaching piano in English at international schools and to international students, I have worked as an accompanist pianist for children’s choirs and mixed choirs, and as an accompanist for vocals and flute. Currently, I am managing a music school with my husband while raising a 3-year-old boy.

【Notice】
★ Due to my condominium regulations, I can only use my grand piano from 10:00 to 22:00 JST. I am available for lessons at other times, but I will be using a small keyboard for those lessons. There shouldn’t be much of an issue with beginner level lessons, but please be aware that this may affect with intermediate to advanced level piano lessons. (lessons on music theory and musical grammar can be taught without using the piano, so I can give those lessons at any time.)
