Who am I?
Hello everyone, my name is Alishba! I am a freelance English tutor from the lovely city of London! I was born and raised in London, and have lived here all my life. My parents are Pakistani, which means I can speak Urdu! If you have never heard of this language (many people haven't so dont worry) Its similar to Hindi when spoken, but with more arabic and Persian influences.
In my spare time I am an amateur photographer. I enjoy taking fashion and lifestyle photos, I love walking around the city to find new and exciting things!
Currently I am learning Japanese, I really enjoy writing in Japanese (especially in hiragana, kanji is so difficult!). I have always loved Japanese culture since a very young age and travelled to Japan in February 2013, It was definitely the best time of my life!
My teaching experience
My main experience comes from working at an after school, I work there 2 days a week assisting young learners (age 4-16) with their reading skills. My main focus is to check their pronunciation, basic sounds, spelling patterns, vowel sounds and letter combinations. I also mark English tests, class worksheets, and assist students if they are struggling with their work.
I am TEFL certified and have been practicing English lessons at my house with Japanese students.
What is my teaching style?
I enjoy teaching in a fun, friendly and casual manner! I like talking about everyday subjects, learning more about my students and teaching through role-play. My lessons are mainly based on conversations and getting you to do most of the speaking, so If you enjoy learning using casual subjects; please try a lesson with me!
Which kind of lessons can I offer to you?
★Pronunciation: I can assist you with your pronunciation by
teaching you how to sound letters correctly and where to position your tongue. Better pronunciation = more natural English!
★British Culture: Would you like to learn more about the culture of Britain? We can talk about whatever you like! Whether its food, films, etiquette, traditions. Since I have lived in England all my life I can provide you with the information!
★Pakistani Culture: Would you like to learn something new? Pakistan is a country with many different ethnicities and languages, influences from the middle east, central asia and south asia. There are so many things we can talk about Pakistan, such as Urdu poetry, food, music and fashion!
★Lessons for children: I have 3 years experience working with children aged 4-16, and can provide fun, easy going lessons designed for children!
★Conversational English: Are you going to the UK or any English speaking country for studies, work or even just a short trip?You can learn how to converse with others better, make friends and make your stay a little easier!
