Hello and welcome! My name is Rachael and I am a TEFL certified, native English tutor from the U.K. I currently live in a wonderful city by the sea called Brighton. 



Previously I was teaching English in Vietnam and Cambodia for over 1 year and would love to continue teaching students online now I am back home in the UK.

Why am I here?
After working in retail and teaching arts and crafts demonstrations and workshops for many years, I decided I wanted to see more of the world. I went travelling for 4 months through South America and had some of the most incredible experiences of my life! During my time there I had Spanish lessons which helped me so much whilst travelling. I discovered how important it is to learn languages and continued to learn Spanish after my travels.



All this travelling and volunteering sparked new ambition in me and when I returned, I took a level 5 168hr TEFL course at the TEFL Academy in Brighton. I decided to go to South East Asia and find work with my partner. I had an amazing time gaining experience teaching kids of all ages and adults too.



Experience and Teaching Style
My experience includes private one to one lessons, kids and teen lessons at language centres and adults office and communication classes. I also taught art to groups of students in Vietnam (I have a BA degree in Art and Illustration) which was a great way of helping refine their English and expand their vocabulary through task based learning.

I am a cheerful and enthusiastic teacher. I can offer patience, positivity, kindness and creativity in my lessons. My biggest priority is to make students feel comfortable and welcome.

Seeing students gain confidence in their English conversation skills is one of my favourite things about teaching! 

I have a wide range of interests and I'm always learning new things. When learning new skills such as a new language, you have to be prepared to make a lot of mistakes along the way! I like to offer lots of helpful and detailed feedback to my students and take time to offer homework, extra materials and study tips

What to Expect...

I teach mostly teens and adults from elementary - advanced, but I hope to be adding some kids lessons in the future. My lessons are cheerful, relaxed and have a fun and dynamic approach to learning. I like to provide original material, solid study and great before and after study tips and materials. I like to tailor my lessons to meet your individual needs as a student. I am always happy to be flexible and I take student requests and feedback seriously.



Interests
Hiking, outdoor adventures, travel, animals and wildlife, art, crafts, music, films, festivals, gardening, yoga, science, philosophy, and cooking new recipies.

I am also a qualified massage therapist and I'm currently taking my studies further in advanced clinical massage, to help people with chronic pain and illness. This is a fusion of Eastern and Western methods. I am fascinated by Eastern medicine and health and I can also offer lessons around anatomy, health and wellness if there is interest.
