ABOUT ME:

My name is Edward. I was born and raised in Montréal (oui, je parle français!) and have ten years of experience in ESL, working as a teacher, examiner, content developer, proofreader, and even school manager. 

I lived and worked in Korea for five years (네, 한국말 조금 할 줄 알아요!) and recently returned to Canada (Toronto), where I am currently working as a speaking examiner and freelance editor.

I am CELTA-certified and am certified as a speaking examiner (for legal reasons, I cannot specify which exam I am certified for). 

I am also in the process of completing a certificate in Editing & Publishing. 

I love teaching and have always worked hard to create fun, positive, and stress-free classes for my students. I have been very happy to hear many of my students tell me that I was the best teacher they ever had. The truth is, I don’t think I do anything special, I am just very attentive to their needs and try my best to learn about who they are and why they are studying English.


MY LESSONS:

I can offer my teaching services and ESL expertise in a variety of ways.

First off, I am certified as a speaking examiner and can provide interview and test-prep classes for students. I can help students prepare for their scheduled exams or simply provide them with structured practice and meaningful feedback and insight on how to improve their scores.

I am also offering conversation classes that focus on improving students’ speaking and listening skills. In these classes, grammar points, useful expressions, and new vocabulary can come up naturally in the flow of conversation. If I notice a repeated problem, we can work on correcting that problem during the class (or during a future class), and I will also provide students with materials and feedback for further practice.
Students who book this conversation class will also gain access to the Edward’s ESL Edge podcast, a show that presents interesting news stories from across the globe, as well as interviews with professionals from various fields.
After listening to the podcast, students can engage in online discussions to share their opinions and answer related questions.

I can also provide editing, proofreading, and French-to-English translation services for any materials a student brings in. These materials can include schoolwork, job presentations, journal entries, resumes/CVs, transcripts from movies and TV shows, song lyrics, etc.
We can spend our lesson time going over the materials while I explain all of the corrections I make.
