It seems that rainy season has finally set in. I sometimes joke with my students that the UK also has a rainy season, starting in January and ending in December. The UK is of course famous for it's inhospitable weather, and my hometown in Wales is one of the most rainswept areas in Britain. 

ようやく梅雨がきた。ときどきイギリスも梅雨があることを生徒に伝える。イギリスの梅雨は1月に始まって、12月に終わると言うこと。。。もちろん冗談ですけど、イギリスの悪天は世界で有名と思う。イギリスの中で僕の出身（ウェールズ）はとくに雨が多いところです。

I was interested to learn that the kanji for rainy season is '梅雨'. Combining both 'plum' and 'rain'. Kanji can be so poetic at times and I've always enjoyed unlocking the meanings behind them. 

最近梅雨の漢字を学んだ。「梅」と「雨」。意味は簡単にわかれるですね。このようの詩的な漢字の勉強はとても楽しいことです。

As well as a plum tree, there are also 2 persimmon trees and a bitter orange tree in the garden.  I'm actually planning to cut the bitter orange tree down this year, since it's crooked and growing sideways, like a witch's hand reaching out to snatch someone.

梅の木の以外に柿の木が二本あって、夏みかんの木も一本あります。夏みかんの木はすごく曲がって生えていて,（魔女の手を誰かに届いているように）今年この木を切るつもりです。
