Hello, everyone. How’re you today? It’s Teacher Asuka.
Today, I’m going to talk about “SDGs”. Have you ever heard of this word? You might have heard it from some TV commercials as well as Company’s advertisements recently.
“SDGs” which stands for “Sustainable Development Goals”, or “Global Goals” is a universal goal for all the people in the world, to end poverty, hunger, protect our Earth and be able to enjoy peace and prosperity.
UN has announced “Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development” at the UN summit in September 2015. 193 member states of the UN need to achieve such goals from 2016 to 2030, through acting right now.
Here’s ‘Hello kitty’, an ambassador of SDGs global channel shows us the importance as well.
The goal above is known to “17 goals for changing the world”, which consists of 17 global goals and 169 targets. The 17 goals are as follows :
Goal-1 “No poverty”, Goal-2 “Zero hunger”, Goal-3 “Good health and well-being”, Goal-4 “Quality education”, Goal-5 “Gender equality”, Goal-6 “Clean water”, Goal-7 “Affordable and clean energy”, Goal-8 “Decent work”, Goal-9 “Industry, innovation, infrastructure”, Goal-10 “Reduced inequalities”,Goal-11 “Sustainable cities and communities”, Goal-12 “Responsible consumptions, production”, Goal-13 “Climate action”, Goal-14 “Life below water”, Goal-15 “Life on land”, Goal-16 “Peace, justice, and strong institutions”, and Goal-17 “Partnerships for the goals”.
Not only every nation, international institutions but also individuals, companies, civil societies need to effort and continuing support to make the world achieve SDGs.
Thank you for staying with me.
See you next time.
