ANZAC DAY

2022年4月24日

*Some of you may be interested to know more about ANZAC cookies and the history behind them. This article is not meant to be political or upsetting. I hope everyone finds it interesting and informative.*

ANZAC (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) DAY is a holiday in Australia and New Zealand celebrated on April 25th every year.

It commemorates the landing of Australian and New Zealand Military Personal in 1915 at Gallopli (Europe) during WW1 (World War One).

It is a way to remember and reflect on all people who have died or served in wars, conflicts, or peace-keeping missions.

People attend dawn(sunrise) services, as well as watch or participate in national parades/marches.

Another tradition on ANZAC DAY is to make ANZAC cookies.
In the past, ANZAC cookies used to be sent by Australians, to their relatives in conflict areas overseas. The cookies didn't go bad (spoil) on the long journey and stayed crunchy and sweet. It was a little reminder of 'home' and was originally used to replace bread!
The cookies are still popular today! The cookies can be purchased from supermarkets or made from scratch at home.

I made some ANZAC cookies with my family this weekend! If you would like to try the recipe please see the link below:
