A Cup of Tea, Anyone?

Weekly Topic: There are many different ways to prepare a tea around the world. How do you usually drink yours?

Do you prefer tea to other drinks? Many people worldwide drink tea because of the health benefits it brings. Tea contains certain substances linked to better health.

There are many styles and varieties of teas, such as black tea, green tea (including matcha), white tea, herbal tea, and oolong tea.

What kind of tea do you put in your cup, and how do you prepare it? Most of the time, I choose the easiest option -- using a teabag. It is done by placing a tea bag in a cup or mug and then boiling water. Then I steep the tea according to the timing based on its variety. After that, I remove the tea bag from the cup. Finally, I finish with milk, sweetener (such as sugar, honey, agave, or stevia), or a slice of citrus.

"Tea consumption, especially green tea, may not be the magic bullet, but it can be incorporated in an overall healthy diet with whole grains, fish, fruits and vegetables, and less red and processed meat," says Qi Sun, assistant professor in the Department of Nutrition, Harvard School of Public Health.
