世界禁煙デー "World No Tabacco Day"

本日5月31日は「世界禁煙デー」です。

英語では「World No Tabacco Day」と表記されます。
1989年に世界保健機構（World Health Organization:WHO）が
「タバコを吸わないことが一般的な社会習慣となること」をめざして制定しました。

日本では5月31日から6月6日までの1週間を「禁煙週間」と定めています。
タバコの煙には約5300種類の化学物質が含まれていて、そのうちの70種類が発がん物質だそうです。
恐ろしいですね。
受動喫煙の危険性も広く知られるようになりましたし、歩きたばこや吸い殻のポイ捨ても、とても迷惑です。

世界中の人が禁煙に成功することを願っています...。

It was set in 1989 by the World health Organization(WHO) with the aim of "making not smoking a common social habit"
In Japan, the week from May 31st to June 6th is designated "No Tabacco Week".
Cigarette smoke contains about 5,300types of chemicals, 70 of which are carcinogens.
That's scary.
The dangers of passive smoking have become widely known.
Smoking while walking and littering cigarette butts are also annoying.

I hope that people all over the world will be able to successfully quit smoking someday.
