From Curiosity to Confidence: What Students Ask in English Class

Lauren Allies

One of the things I love most about teaching English is the questions my students ask. They aren’t just about grammar or vocabulary, but about real life, culture, and confidence. Every lesson feels different because every student brings their own curiosity to class.

Some of my favorite student questions have been:

"How can I sound more confident when I speak English?”
“What’s the difference between casual English and formal English?”
“Why do native speakers talk so fast, and how can I understand them better?”
“Can you help me prepare for an interview in English?”

These questions lead to fun, practical, and personal lessons that go far beyond textbooks. The truth is, the best lessons don’t come from a set plan, they come from your questions.
