Finding Balance: Why I Love Yoga in Japan

I have been practicing yoga since I was a university student. When I first started, I was extremely stiff! My body would make all kinds of strange sounds, and I remember feeling embarrassed because I could barely do some of the poses. ??

There were several times when I thought, “Maybe I should stop going to class.”

But I kept practicing, and little by little, my body started to loosen up. I learned that I didn't have to be good at yoga from the beginning. I just had to keep practicing.

I also learned a lot from my teacher, especially breathing and visualization techniques.

Since then, whenever I have the opportunity, I look for new places to practice yoga. In Japan, I have had the chance to practice outdoors in Tokyo and participate in Temple Yoga in both Kyoto and Osaka.

And what could be better than practicing yoga inside a Japanese temple? 

Yoga has taught me to be patient, listen to my body, accept that every day is different, and avoid comparing myself with others.

I think language learning is very similar.

You don't become better overnight. You improve little by little by practicing and being patient with yourself.

Whether you're learning yoga or a new language, it's okay if things feel difficult at first. Just keep going. ??
