【JLPT N3】日常会話(にちじょうかいわ)で使(つか)える文法(ぶんぽう)6つ!

N3 Grammar Points You Can Use in Daily Conversation!

この記事(きじ)では、JLPT N3レベルの文法(ぶんぽう)を6つ紹介(しょうかい)します。会話(かいわ)の例(れい)といっしょに見(み)て、実際(じっさい)の場面(ばめん)での使(つか)い方(かた)を覚(おぼ)えましょう。
In this article, I'll introduce 6 grammar points at the JLPT N3 level. Look at them with example conversations and learn how to use them in real situations.

今回(こんかい)の文法(ぶんぽう) / Today's grammar

  1. ~ぶり (for the first time in...)
  2. ~ふりをする (pretend to...)
  3. ~べきだ (should)
  4. ~べきだった (should have)
  5. ~ば~ほど (the more... the more...)
  6. ~ほど (to the extent that...)

① ~ぶり

意味(いみ):前(まえ)にしてから、長(なが)い時間(じかん)がたって、もう一度(いちど)する。
Meaning: After a long time has passed since you last did something, you do it again.

「3年(ねん)ぶりに会(あ)う」は「3年(ねん)たって、もう一度(いちど)会(あ)う」という意味(いみ)です。時間(じかん)を表(あらわ)すことばといっしょに使(つか)います。
"3年ぶりに会う" means "to meet again after 3 years." It is used together with words that express time.

会話(かいわ)の例(れい):久(ひさ)しぶりに友達(ともだち)と会(あ)った
Example conversation: Meeting a friend after a long time

A:久(ひさ)しぶり!元気(げんき)だった?
Long time no see! How have you been?

B:元気(げんき)だったよ!3年(ねん)ぶりに会(あ)ったね。
I've been well! It's the first time we've met in 3 years.

A:本当(ほんとう)だね。最後(さいご)に会(あ)ったのはいつだっけ?
It really is. When was the last time we met?

B:大学(だいがく)を卒業(そつぎょう)してから会(あ)ってないよね。
We haven't met since we graduated from university, right?

A:そうそう。3年(ねん)ぶりなのに、全然(ぜんぜん)変(か)わってないね!
Right, right. It's been 3 years, but you haven't changed at all!

よく使(つか)う表現(ひょうげん) / Common expressions

  • 1年(ねん)ぶりに会(あ)う — meet for the first time in a year
  • 3年(ねん)ぶりに日本(にほん)に帰(かえ)る — return to Japan for the first time in 3 years
  • 久(ひさ)しぶりに映画(えいが)を見(み)る — watch a movie for the first time in a while
  • 10年(ねん)ぶりに地元(じもと)に帰(かえ)る — return to my hometown for the first time in 10 years

② ~ふりをする

意味(いみ):本当(ほんとう)はそうではないけれど、そうであるように見(み)せる。
Meaning: To make it look like something is true when it really isn't.

「気(き)づかないふりをする」は「本当(ほんとう)は気(き)づいているのに、気(き)づいていないようにする」という意味(いみ)です。
"気づかないふりをする" means "to act as if you haven't noticed, even though you actually have."

会話(かいわ)の例(れい):メッセージに気(き)づかないふりをした
Example conversation: Pretending not to notice a message

A:ねえ、昨日(きのう)メッセージ送(おく)ったよね?
Hey, I sent you a message yesterday, right?

B:え?そうだっけ?
Huh? Did you?

A:送(おく)ったよ!見(み)たでしょ?
I did! You saw it, didn't you?

B:……。
...

A:ちょっと、なんで無視(むし)するの?(笑(わら))
Hey, why are you ignoring me? (laughs)

B:ごめん。忙(いそが)しかったから、気(き)づかないふりをしてた。
Sorry (laughs). I was busy, so I pretended not to notice.

よく使(つか)う表現(ひょうげん) / Common expressions

  • 知(し)っているふりをする — pretend to know
  • 分(わ)かったふりをする — pretend to understand
  • 寝(ね)たふりをする — pretend to be asleep
  • 聞(き)こえないふりをする — pretend not to hear

③ ~べきだ

意味(いみ):「~したほうがいい」「~するのが正(ただ)しい」
Meaning: "You had better..." / "It is right to..." (should)

「~したほうがいい」より、少(すこ)し強(つよ)いアドバイスや意見(いけん)になることがあります。
It can be a slightly stronger piece of advice or opinion than "~したほうがいい."

会話(かいわ)の例(れい):友達(ともだち)が仕事(しごと)を辞(や)めるかどうか悩(なや)んでいる
Example conversation: A friend is thinking about quitting their job

A:最近(さいきん)、仕事(しごと)を辞(や)めようかなって思(おも)ってる。
Lately, I've been thinking about quitting my job.

B:え、本当(ほんとう)に?どうして?
Huh, really? Why?

A:毎日(まいにち)忙(いそが)しいし、ちょっと疲(つか)れちゃって。
I'm busy every day, and I've gotten a little tired.

B:そうなんだ。でも、まずは上司(じょうし)に相談(そうだん)するべきだと思(おも)うよ。
I see. But I think you should talk to your boss first.

A:うん、それもそうだね。
Yeah, that's true.

 

よく使(つか)う表現(ひょうげん) / Common expressions

  • もっと休(やす)むべきだ。 — You should rest more.
  • 病院(びょういん)に行(い)くべきだと思(おも)う。 — I think you should go to the hospital.
  • ちゃんと話(はな)し合(あ)うべきだ。 — You should talk it over properly.

④ ~べきだった

意味(いみ):「~したほうがよかった」「~すればよかった」
Meaning: "It would have been better to..." / "I should have..."

本当(ほんとう)はしなかったことについて、後悔(こうかい)したり反省(はんせい)したりするときに使(つか)います。
It is used when you regret or reflect on something you didn't actually do.

会話(かいわ)の例(れい):忘(わす)れ物(もの)をして後悔(こうかい)する
Example conversation: Regretting leaving something behind

A:あれ?スマホがない!
Huh? My phone is gone!

B:え、本当(ほんとう)に?バッグの中(なか)は?
Really? What about in your bag?

A:ない……。
It's not there...

B:さっきカフェに置(お)いてきたんじゃない?
Didn't you leave it at the café earlier?

A:あ、そうかも……。
Ah, maybe so...

B:出(で)る前(まえ)に、ちゃんと確認(かくにん)するべきだったね。
You should have checked properly before leaving.

A:うん……。ちゃんとバッグの中(なか)を見(み)るべきだった……。
Yeah... I should have looked in my bag properly...

よく使(つか)う表現(ひょうげん) / Common expressions

  • もっと早(はや)く寝(ね)るべきだった。 — I should have gone to bed earlier.
  • 傘(かさ)を持(も)ってくるべきだった。 — I should have brought an umbrella.
  • 早(はや)めに予約(よやく)するべきだった。 — I should have booked earlier.
  • もっと勉強(べんきょう)するべきだった。 — I should have studied more.

⑤ ~ば~ほど

意味(いみ):することが増(ふ)えると、その程度(ていど)がもっと大(おお)きくなる。
Meaning: The more you do something, the greater the degree becomes.

「~すればするほど、もっと~になる」という意味(いみ)です。
It means "The more you do ~, the more it becomes ~."

会話(かいわ)の例(れい):日本語(にほんご)の勉強(べんきょう)について話(はな)す
Example conversation: Talking about studying Japanese

A:最近(さいきん)、日本語(にほんご)の勉強(べんきょう)どう?
How's your Japanese study going lately?

B:少(すこ)しずつ分(わ)かるようになってきたよ。
I've been gradually starting to understand.

A:いいね!毎日(まいにち)勉強(べんきょう)してる?
Nice! Do you study every day?

B:うん。日本語(にほんご)は勉強(べんきょう)すればするほど、面白(おもしろ)くなるね。
Yeah. The more you study Japanese, the more interesting it gets.

A:分(わ)かる!最初(さいしょ)は難(むずか)しかったけど、勉強(べんきょう)すればするほど楽(たの)しくなってきた。
I know! It was hard at first, but the more I study, the more fun it has become.

よく使(つか)う表現(ひょうげん) / Common expressions

  • 練習(れんしゅう)すればするほど、上手(じょうず)になる。 — The more you practice, the better you get.
  • 使(つか)えば使(つか)うほど、便利(べんり)になる。 — The more you use it, the more convenient it becomes.
  • 知(し)れば知(し)るほど、面白(おもしろ)くなる。 — The more you know, the more interesting it gets.
  • 見(み)れば見(み)るほど、好(す)きになる。 — The more you look at it, the more you like it.

⑥ ~ほど

意味(いみ):程度(ていど)を表(あらわ)します。「どのくらいか」を具体的(ぐたいてき)に言(い)うときに使(つか)います。
Meaning: It expresses degree. It is used to say specifically "how much" or "to what extent."

「動(うご)けなくなるほど食(た)べた」は「動(うご)けなくなるくらい、たくさん食(た)べた」という意味(いみ)です。英語(えいご)では "I ate so much that I couldn't move." のイメージです。
"動けなくなるほど食べた" means "I ate so much that I could no longer move." In English, it's like "I ate so much that I couldn't move."

会話(かいわ)の例(れい):旅行中(りょこうちゅう)に食(た)べすぎた
Example conversation: Overeating during a trip

A:昨日(きのう)、旅行先(りょこうさき)で何(なに)食(た)べたの?
What did you eat at your travel destination yesterday?

B:いろいろ食(た)べたよ!
I ate all sorts of things!

A:何(なに)が一番(いちばん)おいしかった?
What was the most delicious?

B:全部(ぜんぶ)おいしかったけど、動(うご)けなくなるほど食(た)べちゃった(笑(わら))。
Everything was delicious, but I ate so much I couldn't move (laughs).

A:そんなに?(笑(わら))
That much? (laughs)

B:うん!本当(ほんとう)にお腹(なか)いっぱいだった(笑(わら))。
Yeah! I was really full (laughs).

よく使(つか)う表現(ひょうげん) / Common expressions

  • 死(し)ぬほど疲(つか)れた。 — I was dead tired. (lit. tired to the point of death)
  • 泣(な)きたいほど嬉(うれ)しかった。 — I was so happy I wanted to cry.
  • 声(こえ)が出(で)なくなるほど笑(わら)った。 — I laughed so hard I lost my voice.
  • 忘(わす)れられないほど感動(かんどう)した。 — I was so moved that I'll never forget it.

Let's talk about yourself!

文法(ぶんぽう)は、意味(いみ)を覚(おぼ)えるだけでは足(た)りません。声(こえ)に出(だ)して、自分(じぶん)のことを話(はな)してみましょう。
It's not enough just to memorize the meaning of grammar. Say it out loud and talk about yourself.

① ~ぶり
最後(さいご)に友達(ともだち)に会(あ)ったのはいつですか?
When was the last time you met a friend?
→ 例(れい):3年(ねん)ぶりに友達(ともだち)に会(あ)いました。
I met a friend for the first time in 3 years.

② ~ふりをする
本当(ほんとう)は分(わ)からないのに、分(わ)かったふりをしたことがありますか?
Have you ever pretended to understand when you really didn't?
→ 例(れい):分(わ)からなかったけど、分(わ)かったふりをしました。
I didn't understand, but I pretended I did.

③ ~べきだ
友達(ともだち)が困(こま)っていたら、何(なに)をしたほうがいいと思(おも)いますか?
If a friend is in trouble, what do you think you should do?
→ 例(れい):友達(ともだち)の話(はなし)を聞(き)くべきだと思(おも)います。
I think you should listen to your friend.

④ ~べきだった
最近(さいきん)、「もっと~すればよかった」と思(おも)ったことはありますか?
Recently, have you ever thought, "I should have done ~ more"?
→ 例(れい):もっと早(はや)く寝(ね)るべきだった。
I should have gone to bed earlier.

⑤ ~ば~ほど
何(なに)をすると、上手(じょうず)になりますか?
What gets better the more you do it?
→ 例(れい):日本語(にほんご)は話(はな)せば話(はな)すほど、上手(じょうず)になります。
The more you speak Japanese, the better you get.

⑥ ~ほど
最近(さいきん)、どのくらい何(なに)かをしましたか?
Recently, how much of something have you done?
→ 例(れい):動(うご)けなくなるほど食(た)べました。/死(し)ぬほど疲(つか)れました。
I ate so much I couldn't move. / I was dead tired.


この6つの文法(ぶんぽう)を使(つか)って、ぜひ自分(じぶん)のことを話(はな)してみてください。話(はな)せば話(はな)すほど、日本語(にほんご)は上手(じょうず)になりますよ!
