How to say you're really hungry!

Sara.TEFL

There are times when 'hungry' just isn't strong enough to describe how you feel.  Maybe you skipped breakfast and have been dreaming of lunch since 11am, or you've been out walking all day and just got home. You're more than hungry!

Here are some strong adjectives in English to describe that feeling, in example sentences.

What time is dinner? I'm famished. (IPA: /ˈfæm.ɪʃt/)
John couldn't wait for lunch; he was ravenous, so he ate half a packet of biscuits while it was cooking! (IPA: /ˈræv.ən.əs/)
Have you eaten today?  You must be starving! (UK IPA: /ˈstɑː.vɪŋ/) (USA IPA: /ˈstɑːr.vɪŋ/)

If you'd like to practice your own sentences with these words, feel free to write them in comments!
