Title: Talking About Experiences & Choices

🎯 Objective
Students will:
- Speak more naturally in conversation
- Share opinions and personal experiences
- Practice agreeing and disagreeing
🔑 Warm-Up (5 mins)
Asking simple but engaging questions:
- Do you enjoy trying new restaurants? Why or why not?
- What is better: expensive food or simple food?
- Do you think price always means quality?
Topic 1: Food & Experiences (5–10 mins)
- What is the best meal you’ve ever had?
- Do you prefer eating at home or eating out? Why?
- Have you ever paid for something that was not worth it?
Follow-up prompts:
- “What happened?”
- “Would you do it again?”
Topic 2: Simple vs Expensive (5–10 mins)
- Why do people like expensive things?
- Is simple sometimes better? Give an example.
- Do people try to impress others with what they buy?
Encourage:
- “I think…”
- “In my opinion…”
- “For me…”
Topic 3: Opinions & Preferences (5–10 mins)
- Do you like trying new things or staying comfortable?
- What makes something “special” for you?
- Do you trust reviews (online ratings, critics)?
Mini Speaking Practice (5 mins)
Give students phrases:
- “I agree because…”
- “I don’t agree because…”
- “That’s true, but…”
- “For me personally…”
Ask them to respond to each other using these.
Role Play (5 mins)
Scenario:
- One student: customer
- One student: restaurant owner
Customer says: “The food is too expensive.”
Owner responds and explains why.
Ask:
- What did you enjoy talking about today?
- Do you think simple things are better in life?
Purpose:
- Topics are relatable (food, money, choices)
- Still allow deeper thinking without being difficult
- Encourages natural conversation, not memorization
