Compound Tenses and Syntactic Structures
課程介紹
In this third level, we move toward more advanced narrative structures and complex time frames. This program is essential for students who wish to master the past, talk about future possibilities, and understand the subtle nuances of Spanish prepositions and pronouns. We will focus on the precision required to tell stories and express conditions with confidence.
We will continue to use structured PowerPoint presentations to cover each of these topics in detail. These presentations include a theoretical section to explain how each topic works, an examples section where we will translate sentences together from Spanish to English to provide context, and a variety of exercises at the end of each session to practice everything learned during the class.
This curriculum serves as our roadmap for mastering the different layers of the Spanish language:
- Time expressions with hacer.
- Irregular preterits.
- The preterit of stem-changing verbs (e:i and o:u).
- Command forms: tú (Informal imperatives).
- Use of en and a as equivalents of at.
- The imperfect tense.
- The past progressive.
- The preterit contrasted with the imperfect.
- Changes in meaning with the imperfect and preterit of conocer, saber, and querer.
- Hace as equivalent of ago.
- Uses of se.
- ¿Qué? and ¿cuál? used with the verb ser.
- The past participle.
- The present perfect tense (Pretérito perfecto compuesto).
- The past perfect or pluperfect tense (Pluscuamperfecto).
- The future tense.
- The conditional tense.
- Some uses of the prepositions a, de, and en.
To ensure effective communication and a comprehensive learning experience, these classes are designed for students who meet at least one of these two requirements:
- Intermediate or advanced level of English (B1+): This allows me to take on absolute beginners (A0) using English as a bridge language.
- Intermediate or advanced level of Spanish (B1+): For those who already have a sufficient foundation for fully immersive instruction in Spanish.
