Conversation classes with a focus on visual art and design. For Intermediate and advanced students.

Classes make reference to material available online. The structure of the class is informal but is focussed mainly on European traditions.

We'll talk about the practice and experience of visual art, design and architecture.  We'll exchange opinions about:
  • painting
  • sculpture
  • drawing
  • printmaking 
  • architecture 
  • design (furniture, books, typography, interiors)
  • art history
  • gardens
  • techniques and materials of painting and drawing
  •  contemporary and modern art
  • museums and galleries
  • cities 
  • theory
  • cars, trains and bicycles
  • book illustration
  • colour, texture, size and scale
  • photography
I'm an experienced English teacher from Scotland. I've an M.A. in Fine Art from Edinburgh University, and I'm a landscape painter.
