Let the cat out of the bag.
Spill the beans.
There's an elephant in the room.
We will start with these three idioms. The student will be asked to choose in which order they will be explained. The meaning of each will be explained and examples of each will be given within a sentence. This is followed by inviting the student to share, to tell in English something similar in his or her own language.
Next, sentences will be created (written or spoken) using each one of the idioms.
Lesson expansion: I will ask the student about phrases or words linked together which were confusing. We will examine if these were idioms and their meanings explained. Throughout the lesson, attention will be paid to grammar and vocabulary expansion.
