This month's book: The Secret History of the Mongol Queens: How the Daughters of Genghis Khan Rescued His Empire

During the lesson, we'll have a traditional book club meeting (with or without a drink - stereotypically, it's a glass of wine, but it's up to you!) about a book listed in the lesson's subtitle.
If the book interests you, please read the book first. I can send you a relevant link to purchase the book if you wish or you're free to borrow it from a local library or buy it online or at your local bookstore. After you've finished reading the book, we will discuss it (going over each chapter and the general theme/topic of the book). We can also go over any new vocabulary words you encountered while reading!

This month's book: The Secret History of the Mongol Queens- How the Daughters of Genghis Khan Rescued His Empire
A 2010 book by Jack Weatherford, "The Secret History of the Mongol Queens" explores the impact and legacy of Genghis Khan's daughters and Mongol queens such as Mandukhai the Wise and Khutulun. The book references Mongolian, Central Asian, Persian, European, and Chinese sources such as Altan Tobchi, Erdeni Tobchi, Erdenyin Tunamal Sudar, Tarikh-i-Rashidi, Tarikh-i Jahangushay-i Juvaini, and Ming shi in addition to various secondary sources in English, Mongolian, and German. Weatherford also analyzes the role of Mongol women in the Mongol Empire and how they influenced the Mongol nation, modern Mongolia, and most of the modern world.
