Learn watercolor painting basics in a fun virtual class! Explore simple techniques, color blending, brushes, and beginner-friendly projects.
Kick off this summer with the creative world of watercolor painting in this beginner-friendly virtual class! Students will learn watercolor basics including brush techniques, color mixing, blending, layering, and simple composition skills. Through guided step-by-step projects, learners will practice creating soft washes, textures, flowers, landscapes, and other fun beginner artwork in a supportive and encouraging environment. Students can use affordable watercolor supplies while exploring creativity, mindfulness, and artistic self-expression from home.
Class begins with a 5 minute welcome, supply check, and warm-up activity. The main 40 minutes include guided watercolor lessons on brush techniques, color mixing, blending, and beginner painting projects with step-by-step support. Students will have time to practice independently and share their artwork. The final 10 minutes include reflection, questions, cleanup tips, and a preview of the next class project.
Students will need basic watercolor supplies including watercolor paints, watercolor paper, a few brushes (small, medium, large), a cup of water, and a palette or plate for mixing colors. Paper towels or a cloth are helpful for blotting and cleanup. A flat, well-lit workspace is recommended, along with protection for the table surface such as newspaper or a mat. Optional supplies include masking tape and a pencil for sketching.
