Have you every wondered about our Earth and the Rock Cycle? This is an introductory course on basic geology including rocks and minerals.

In this class, students will be introduced to the different processes that change rocks over time (erosion, heat, and pressure). We will discuss the differences between rocks and minerals and examine examples of each rock types (igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary). Students will make an edible rock cycle with starburst candies.
Topics included will be:
- the rock cycle
- igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary rocks
- common uses for rocks, minerals, and gems
- plate tectonics
- the purposes of mining
This class includes an experiement using taffy candy (Starburst brand) to create an edible rock cycle.
