An introduction, interview, and assessment of the student's writing goals, needs, level, and interests.
Descrizioni
All first time students will do their first lesson with me as an introduction, interview, and assessment of the student's and myself. We will assess student's writing goals, interests, and needs. We will also go over how future lessons will run and the tools we will use. I will use information gathered from the class to create catered lessons for the student. We will be using Google Docs for all writing exercises and instruction in future lessons.
The first lesson will follow a general outline as follows, but is subject to change as needed:
Student-tutor introductions: (*1-5 min)
Student interview: (*6-12min) Student will be asked about their writing goals, what they like to write about, what they like to read. Students are also allowed to ask me questions in return, within the scope of the topic.
Student assessment: (*13-min) Student will be sent a google doc link and given a short paragraph for reading allowed or simple questions (*10-15min), followed by a writing prompt (*15-25min), during which they will do a free write within a specified time limit(*10 minutes to write). Both of these assessments will be used to determine appropriate language level, working writing skills, etc for future lessons.
Some guided instruction:(*26-30min)
After the writing prompt is completed, I will give some instruction centered around the student's writing sample.
Overview of how future lessons will proceed: (*31-35min)
*All times are estimates and subject to change based on the interactions between student and tutor, but the lesson will be at time limit. The exact order of events is also subject to change within the outline.
**We will be using Google Docs for writing assignments. Further tools will be discussed as they are introduced to lessons, should I need to update them as needed. Students will be sent Google doc links for assignments. They will not be sharing links or docs with other students.
***Students' writing is considered confidential on my end, and will not be shared with others not the student/writer.
****I do not approve of the use of AI writing as a replacement for the student's writing. Please write your own stories and exercises.
